The repercussions of the recent decision to leave the EU have hit us all hard, I am sure. For us, a company who sources most of it's materials overseas and also ships from overseas; the drop in the value of the GBP£ (pound) has been near to catastrophic. We have to address that situation now if we are to survive this massive drop in the value of our currency.

We have not had a general price increase since 2012, doing our absolute best to hold prices at 2012 levels for the past 4 years. We have had to raise a few prices here and there because of material cost increases, but basically we have kept price rises below the small rate of inflation during this period, often absorbing additional costs without passing them onto you, the customer.

A price rise is, however, inevitable now.

We have been thinking long and hard about how to handle the current situation, whilst remaining as fair as possible to our customers. We will absolutely not use this dire financial situation to line our pockets and increase our profits. Too many currency traders are already doing that and throwing our economy to the dogs at the same time.

We have decided the best, and fairest way forward is to treat the post-Brexit GBP£ value like a foreign currency, based on it's pre-Brexit value (in relation to the USD$) and base all price rises on those changing values. By doing that, when the pound becomes stronger, the prices will fall again without delay.

Prices will be updated based on the difference in value between the GBP£ pre-Brexit and the current value every few days. Initially, the price increases will match the drop in value of the GBP£ since the Brexit vote. From then onwards prices will be adjusted (we hope positively) every few days based on the current value. We hope an upturn comes soon, and the GBP£ achieves it's former equity as soon as possible, at which point we will abandon this comparison pricing scheme and return to our current pricing. 

We promise that when the GBP£ strengthens, you will get the benefit from it by means of prices returning towards their original levels. Even if it only moves a little bit every few days, we will pass on that benefit every few days too. However, should it continue to devalue then prices will, by necessity go the other way.

We have further agreed that we should hold off on implementing the new prices for a few days, to give everyone one last chance to stock up before the general increase is applied. So we will hold off from implementation until Monday 18th July 2016.

Please also remember we keep all our invoice prices below £14.95 so that you do not pay VAT (20%) on products bought from us, everything over £14.95 is invoiced as a shipping charge.

A note for non-UK customers. Overseas prices offered in AUD USD EUR will be fixed on daily exchange rates based on the GBP product price applicable at that time, as it always has been.
